A man has been charged after allegedly stealing a bobcat at Glenmore Park earlier this morning.

About 3.50am, police were called after a man was seen breaking into a building site at the intersection of Derubbin Drive and Glenholme Drive.

The man was then seen driving out of the site in a bobcat.

Officers from Penrith Local Area Command attended immediately and saw a bobcat on the side of Glenmore Ridge Drive, and a man running away.

Police stopped and arrested the man, taking him to Penrith Police Station.

He was charged with entering inclosed lands, take and drive conveyance, and destroy or damage property.

The 25-year-old man is refused bail, to appear before Penrith Local Court today.

Meanwhile, officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding a nearby incident at Orchard Hills, where a man crashed a stolen vehicle into a dam.

The 45-year-old man was arrested and remains in custody at Penrith Police Station but no charges have yet been laid.

It’s not believed the two incidents are linked.
