Colyton bakery robbed; man assaulted

Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a bakery in Colyton early this morning.

About 1.50am, a baker was working in his bakery on Hewitt Street when he was disturbed by two men at the rear door.

One of the men was armed with a firearm and the other with a knife, as they forced their way into the premises threatening the baker while demanding money from the till.

The men stole a small amount of cash out of the register and while running out the back door they hit the baker over the head with a blunt object.

“Emergency services were called to the location and the man was treated at the scene for a cut to his head,” a spokesperson said.

“A crime scene has been established while further investigations are carried out by detectives from St Marys Local Area Command.”
