Elderly man charged with armed robbery

A man has been charged following an alleged armed robbery at a shop at Kingswood.

About 11.30am last Thursday, a man entered the shop on Bringelly Road, armed with a knife.

He threatened the two employees, who locked themselves in a back office.

The man allegedly jumped over the counter and stole cash before fleeing.

Last Friday, a 63-year-old man was arrested at a unit on Stanley Crescent, Kingswood, and taken to St Marys Police Station.

He was subsequently charged with robbery whilst armed with an offensive weapon.

The man was refused bail and appeared at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday, where he was again refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court later this month.
