Man shot at pub

Police have charged three people after a man attended Nepean Hospital overnight with a gunshot wound to his lower leg.

Officers attached to Penrith Local Area Command were called to the hospital about 9.45pm (Monday, January 20), where a 34-year-old man was admitted for treatment to his injury.

Following initial inquiries, a crime scene was established at a hotel on Mulgoa Road at Penrith, where it’s believed the shooting occurred earlier in the evening.

A 40-year-old man and 25-year-old woman were arrested at the hotel and taken to Penrith Police Station, where they were later charged with hinder police investigation and refused bail to appear before Blacktown Local Court today.

About 7am today, local police assisted by specialist officers from the Tactical Operations Unit, executed a search warrant at a home in Markham Avenue at Penrith.

Police seized a firearm and other property from the location, which will now undergo further forensic examination.

A 28-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Penrith Police Station. He has since been charged with discharge firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and refused bail to appear before Blacktown Local Court today.
