315 cannabis plants found at Penrith house

Six people are due to face court today following the alleged discovery of a hydroponic set- up in Penrith.

Following ongoing investigations, officers attached to North West Regional Enforcement Squad executed two search warrants at houses in Lewis Street, Bonnyrigg, and Watson Drive, Penrith, about 6.30pm yesterday.

Police allegedly located a hydroponic set up at the Penrith house as well as 315 cannabis plants with an estimated potential street value of $1,500,000.

A female and male juvenile were arrested at the Penrith location and five men were arrested in relation to the Bonnyrigg search.

All six people were taken to Penrith Police Station and charged with large commercial cultivation of cannabis.

Three men, aged 20, 22 and 31, were refused bail and will face Fairfield Local Court today.

A 21-year-old man was also refused bail and will face Penrith Local Court today.

A 17-year-old male and female were also refused bail and will appear in children’s court today.
