Man pretended to be his brother

A 19-year-old man was given five infringement notices and ordered to pay $800 in fines after he pretended to be his brother in order to evade questions from police.

The Londonderry man was pulled over for a random breath test on Forrester Road in St Marys on September 20.

When police asked him to produce his licence the man said he was not carrying one, but supplied police with a false name – that of his brother – and told police he held a full licence.

Police investigations revealed the man’s true identity and that he was actually on a learner licence.

He was given five infringement notices; state false name and address to police, not carry licence, not display L-plates, learner driver drive while unaccompanied and drive a vehicle that does not comply to standards.
