Member for Penrith Stuart Ayres today announced that work on the cycleway along Castlereagh and Mulgoa roads in Penrith, between Jane and Batt streets, is nearing completion.

“The NSW Government provided $1.5 million in funding for Penrith Council to build about two kilometre of shared path which will link to Glenmore Parkway,” Mr Ayres said.

“The funding is part of the government’s commitment to the River Cities Program. The 10 year $78 million program includes a bike network for Parramatta, Liverpool and Penrith.

“Work on the Penrith cycleway involved building a three metre wide shared path for pedestrians and cyclists.”

Mr Ayres said the cycleway was built to provide a new place to ride a bike and will also promote cycling and walking as mainstream means of transport for everyday use, including to and from Penrith and St Marys.
