Man hurt in home invasion

Detectives are conducting inquiries after a man was seriously assaulted in a home invasion at Penrith.

About 6.45pm yesterday, two unknown men forced entry to a Stafford Street home unit and assaulted the 52-year-old occupant.

The man suffered severe facial lacerations and a suspected broken leg in the attack.

The offenders fled the scene.

Police from Penrith Local Area Command and NSW Ambulance Paramedics responded to the incident.

A crime scene was established and examined by forensics officers.

The victim was taken to Nepean Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

He remains in a stable condition.

Local detectives are seeking public assistance as they continue their inquiries to identify and locate those responsible.
