Saluting their service

Federal Member for Lindsay, David Bradbury, has met with members of the Penrith RSL Sub-branch who recently received $4000 under the Gillard Government’s “Saluting their Service” program.

The Sub-branch is using the grant to help restore and upgrade the medal and memorabilia display at the Penrith RSL Club. Mr Bradbury said he was pleased the Government was able to provide this grant to assist the great work of the Sub-branch.

“A huge amount of work is currently being undertaken at Penrith RSL to pay tribute to past and present members of the Australian defence force," he said.

“The Gillard Government’s Saluting Their Service program supports local projects that aim to commemorate some of our nation’s greatest heroes.

“This funding will help the RSL Sub-branch preserve and display their war memorabilia for our local community to admire.

“I congratulate and thank the Penrith RSL Sub-branch for all the hard work they have put into bringing this display together and I look forward to seeing it completed.”

Mr Bradbury encouraged local residents and Ex-Service organisations to contact his office if they are interested in applying for funding under this program.

“Community and ex-service organisations can apply for funding to support a range of activities including building war memorials; improving security at existing memorials, repairing vandalism; or even recording the experiences of local veterans," he said.
