Erskine Park High’s student welfare program has been recognised with a state-wide achievement award.

The program, which aims to encompass all areas of student wellbeing, earned the school a 2011 Director-General’s School Achievement Award.

Erskine Park High was the only school in western Sydney to be recognised.

“It is very uplifting for the school to be a recipient of such an award,” said Principal, Tim McCallum.

The Director-General of the NSW Department of Education and Communities, Dr Michele Bruniges, said the annual awards were given to schools that made a significant contribution to promoting public education in NSW.

“These schools are brilliant examples of the strength of public education in this state,” Dr Bruniges said.

“It is the dedication and commitment of our teachers, principals and support staff, as well as our partnerships with our school communities, that make our education system world-class.”

Erskine Park’s student welfare program includes initiatives like peer support, anti-bullying, a gifted and talented program, learning support, a multi-cultural program, and leadership.

“Any such award is really the fruits of many peoples labours,” Mr McCallum said.
